The West Deptford Police Department was established in 1955 and began with just six officers. Over the years, our agency has grown to currently employ 46 officers. Our department provides police services to the residents of West Deptford Township, as well as the Borough of National Park. The administrative Division is made up by the Chief of Police, Deputy Chief, and two Lieutenants. Each of the four patrol shifts have a Sergeant and Corporal, along with Patrol Officers and a K-9 team. The Detective Division is supervised by a Detective Sergeant, Detective Corporal and staffed by several Detectives. Our support staff is made up of three full time civilian employees and one part-time civilian employee. We work closely with the West Deptford School Administration to provide a safe learning environment for our students. We currently assign one officer as a School Resource Officer and have three SLEO III officers providing additional security. We also employ several SLEO I officers who are tasked with security and traffic details.
West Deptford Township covers approximately 18 square miles and has a population of nearly 23,000. National park Borough is one square mile and has a population of approximately 3000 residents.

Agency’s Basic Requirements and Application Process
A. The general qualifications for employment with the West Deptford Police Department shall be:
- Must be a resident of New Jersey, at the time of appointment, and a citizen of the United States; 2. Must be at least 18 years of age and less than thirty-five years of age. 3. Shall have graduated from high school or possess a General Equivalency Degree (GED) and possess 60 college credits, or have prior military and or law enforcement experience; 4. Ability to perform all tasks and duties of a Police Officer; 5. Possess a valid New jersey driver’s license or able to obtain one; 6. No indictable criminal history conviction and of good moral character.
B. Vacancy and advertising of vacancy, application process. 1. When a vacancy exists and has been approved to fill, the agency will announce that vacancy. 2. The vacancy shall be announced and advertised through available electronic, print, and other media, including posted on the Department’s social media accounts. 3. The advertisement/announcement shall provide a brief description of the duties of a police officers and list all minimum eligibility requirements. 4. If the date of the physical fitness assessment examination is known it shall be listed in the advertisement/announcement. 5. All applicants shall submit a current resume’ along with a completed application. 6. The application used will be the West Deptford Township Employment Application, available online. 7. All applications and resumes will be submitted and forwarded to the Chief of Police.
