Rowan University‘s Public Safety Department went through a transformation in 2006 from a campus of only security officers to a combination of sworn law enforcement officers who are all certified by the Police Training Commission through the Police Academy. Currently, the main campus in Glassboro has 24 full time officers serving the campus community of 15,000 students and approximately 2,500 employees. In 2013 the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey was integrated with Rowan University and we acquired an additional 10 sworn law enforcement officers which serve the Stratford SOM campus.
The department is fully accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) which administers a rigorous accreditation process whereby law enforcement agencies must adhere to over 494 standards, codes and state-of-the-art practices.
